About the village Vavla

Vavla has been lived in since ancient times and appears as “Vala” on a French map of 1367. Beekeeping is a main occupation, and the honey from thyme and wildflowers is superb.

Outside the village, on the road to Kato Drys, the 15th-century convent of Agios Minas mixes Byzantine and Gothic styles. Its nuns paint icons and make traditional Cypriot sweets.
