How to choose a day trip

Small group or private?

Small-group tours from Paphos are priced per person and share a minivan or minibus. Private tours from Limassol are priced per car for up to 6, so they work out cheaper per head for families and friends travelling together.

Check the pickup

Most tours collect you from your hotel or a nearby meeting point. Blue Lagoon coaches use set meeting points, and the Latchi cruise has no transfer at all.

Going north?

Kyrenia, Famagusta and north Nicosia tours cross the Green Line. Take your passport or EU ID card, and budget a few euros for entry tickets.

Or take the bus

Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca, Ayia Napa and Nicosia are linked by frequent buses. Use a tour for the mountains and the Akamas, where buses are few.

Prefer to go on your own?

Plan it by bus

Many coastal sights, from Kourion to Paphos harbour and Larnaca’s Saint Lazarus, are on regular bus routes. Check the timetable from your hotel before you decide.

Cyprus day trips: questions

What is the best day trip from Paphos?

For the sea, the Blue Lagoon boat trips from Latchi are the favourite; the version with coach transfer from Paphos costs from €35. For the mountains, the Troodos, Omodos and Kykkos tour (from €55) covers a wine village, the island’s best-known monastery and Makarios’ tomb in one day.

How do I get to the Blue Lagoon in Cyprus?

The Blue Lagoon on the Akamas peninsula is reached by boat from Latchi harbour near Polis. You can make your own way to Latchi and take the cruise (from €20), or book a trip with a coach transfer from Paphos or Limassol.

Can you visit North Cyprus on a day trip?

Yes. Day tours to Kyrenia, St Hilarion and Bellapais, to Famagusta, Salamis and Varosha, and to north Nicosia leave from Paphos and Limassol. You need your passport or EU ID card to cross the Green Line, and some nationalities need a special visa.

Are tours better than the bus for the Troodos villages?

Mountain villages have few buses, often on weekdays only, so seeing several in one day by bus is rarely possible. A tour or a hire car is easier for Omodos, Kykkos, Lania or Agros; for towns and resorts the public bus works well.

What does the price of a private tour cover?

Private tours from Limassol are priced per group of up to 6 in one minivan, with guide and hotel pickup. Shore excursions are priced per vehicle. Lunch and some entry tickets are extra; each tour page lists what is and is not included.
