About the village Pano Panagia
Panagia owes its name to the many churches and monasteries dedicated to the Virgin Mary (Panagia), including Panagia Eleousa in the village and the Chrysorrogiatissa monastery. Makarios III was born here in 1913.
The village sits mostly inside Paphos Forest, where mouflon live. The Vouni Panagias wine zone around it is considered one of the best on the island.
