About the village Arsos
Arsos sits at 850 metres on the slopes of the Laona mountain, on the border of the Limassol and Paphos districts. Its name may come from a sacred grove (alsos) of Aphrodite, or from a town founded by Ptolemy Philadelphos in honour of Arsinoe.
Ottoman records of 1572 show Arsos was already the largest village of its area, with a weekly market and a long winemaking tradition. When wine was banned, it became the region’s biggest producer of grape juice. Today it is a peaceful agrotourism village surrounded by vines.
