About the village Kiti
Local tradition says the people of ancient Kition (Larnaca) moved to Kiti to escape Arab raids. When they began a church, its foundations moved overnight, and an army of angels built it: hence Panagia Angeloktisti, “built by angels”.
The church holds a rare early Byzantine apse mosaic of the Virgin and Child, one of the treasures of Cyprus. Kiti is now part of the Dromolaxia–Meneou municipality.
