Platanistasa is a Pitsilia village on the north side of Troodos. Nearby, the church of Stavros tou Agiasmati has one of the most complete fresco programmes of the late 15th century.

About the village Platanistasa
Platanistasa lies at about 940 metres, 14 km south-west of Mitsero. Pre-Christian graves have been found in the village, and in 1474 it was granted to a relative of Catherine Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus.
The church of Stavros tou Agiasmati, outside the village, is one of the ten Painted Churches in the Troodos Region on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
