About the village Lofou
Lofou takes its name from the hill (lofos) it is built on, and has kept the name since Byzantine times. Pottery finds show the area was lived in from the Bronze Age, and the village is recorded in the Frankish era, when King James I granted it to his brother around 1392.
Its old architecture and many winding cobbled streets are why people come: almond trees and vines surround the village, and the restored houses now hold guesthouses and tavernas that make it a peaceful agrotourism base.
