About the village Koilani

Koilani is built on a steep slope above the Kryos river, 35 km from Limassol. It has kept the folk architecture of the Limassol wine villages: narrow paved alleys, tiled and flat roofs, lofts and arches with carved frames, and big earthenware wine jars standing in the yards. Some houses still keep their old equipment for making wine and distilling zivania.

The village is famous for its wines and grape products, its aromatic arkatena rusks and the sweet glitzista pastries. Local stories link its name to ancient Kourion or to Kyllene in the Peloponnese.
