About the village Kyperounta
Kyperounta is a leafy mountain village of uphill roads, vines, small yards and tiled houses. It dates from the Byzantine period and is named after the kyperos plant (Cyperus) that grows here.
Its cool, dry climate made it the site of a British-era sanatorium, now the regional hospital. It produces about three quarters of the island’s apples, celebrated every October.
