About the village Kato Pyrgos
Although in Nicosia district, Kato Pyrgos is now reached via Paphos because of the 1974 invasion. Built on the northern foothills of Troodos, it combines coast and hillside in the heart of Tylliria.
Legend says the chapel of Panagia tis Galoktistis was built with milk after the Virgin Mary healed the villagers’ sheep. A 20-metre oak tree from 1898 shades the square, and the village is one of the island’s main charcoal producers.
