About the village Gourri
Gourri sits in the foothills of the Machairas forest in the Pitsilia area. Its name may come from the Kourries clan who controlled the east side of the mountain around 800 AD, or from a Frankish lord, Jacob de Gourr.
It is a charming stop for scenic views and traditional sweets, a short drive from Fikardou and the Machairas Monastery.
