Visiting Paphos Archaeological Park

Make the mosaics the focus of your first visit, then explore more of the ancient town if conditions suit. The park is a substantial outdoor attraction beside the harbour, rather than a quick indoor museum stop.

Mosaics and ancient town remains

The Roman mosaic floors are a central reason to visit. Start with the site plan and choose the displays you most want to see before extending your route around the wider remains.

A harbour break

Keep time after the park for a waterfront rest. This gives the visit a natural finish without adding another transfer or committing to a second archaeological site.

Plan your visit

Prioritise before walking

At the entrance, check which areas are open and collect the available visitor information. Spend your attention on a few displays, then decide how much of the wider site to cover. Individual areas can be affected by conservation work.

Outdoor conditions and mobility

Bring water, sun protection and footwear for uneven paths. Covered displays do not make the entire visit shaded. Confirm access to the particular viewing areas you need; do not assume all ancient remains are reachable without steps.

Admission and alternatives

Check the official regional listing before travelling for opening and admission changes. If you also want Tombs of the Kings, treat it as a second site with its own entrance and transport, not a continuation inside this park.

Getting there: choose your transport

Bus

Look for harbour services in the current Pafos Buses network. Route 611 includes the harbour corridor. Confirm the appropriate stop in the planner and the walk to the park entrance; allow for any transfer from your accommodation.

Taxi

Ask for the archaeological park visitor entrance near Paphos harbour. Agree a pickup location outside the site and allow flexibility if you spend longer looking at the mosaics.

Rental car

Use signed public parking around the harbour area and continue on foot to the visitor entrance. Check restrictions and payment locally. Leave your return plan flexible rather than driving between every harbour attraction.

Questions about your visit

Is this the same visit as Tombs of the Kings?

No. They are distinct visitor sites. Set a separate destination and leave time for travel if visiting both.

What should I prioritise on a shorter visit?

Start with the mosaics and the entrance site plan. Choose a manageable route rather than trying to see every outdoor remain.
