About the village Pissouri
Pissouri is built on a green hill about 3 km from Cape Aspro, 30 km from Limassol, with views of both mountains and sea. Its name probably comes from the resin (pissa) collected from pine trees here in Byzantine and Frankish times.
In the Middle Ages it was a small port exporting carobs; its stone carob warehouses are now restaurants and homes. Today the village is known for halloumi and small, sweet, seedless Sultanina grapes, while Pissouri Bay has become a resort with water sports and hotels.
