About the village Deryneia

Deryneia, originally Yerinia, has an ancient past and may be where settlers arrived after the Trojan War. As a fertile red-soil village, it is the island’s main strawberry grower.

It has a 15th-century church of Agia Marina, a Byzantine church of the Virgin with 17th-century icons, and the small medieval church of Agios Georgios.
